‘Greenest’ and ‘Meanest’ Cars of 2014

Discover the most environmentally-friendly and gas-guzzling vehicles of the new year.

These days, "going green" is more of a tagline than an action plan. To put your money where your mouth is, you can take a look at one of the biggest personal factors that directly affects the environment: the car you drive.

Car pollution is one of the leading threats to a green environment. More than 1 billion people worldwide drive cars, which contributes to fuel emissions and air pollution. Besides utilizing public transportation, we can direct our focus on more fuel-efficient vehicles that get us to our destination with a much smaller carbon tire print.

The "greenest" and "meanest" cars of 2014 were announced this month by GreenerCars.org. At No. 1, Mercedes-Benz Smart Electric Drive Convertible was ranked the most environmentally friendly. This car is fully electric, emissions-free that offers a battery rental program, making it the most affordable electric car in the U.S. It also has a government 4-star safety rating.

The second cleanest car is the Toyota Prius C, which features the Hybrid Synergy Drive. This is combination of gasoline and electric engines, either working independently or simultaneously, which ever is the most efficient way possible. These wheels crank out a whopping 53 miles per gallon – talk about cutting down on gas money!

On the other hand, the dirtiest, or most fuel-guzzling, cars and trucks were also released. The Ram 2500 (Class 2B) came in dead last, or first, depending on how you look at it. In the city, this truck has 13 miles per gallon. The Bugatti Veyron, a mid-sized sports car, fell in second place, ranking the lowest of all vehicles for MPG in the city with a total of 8.

Encouraging a sustainable word is one of Ilchi Lee's main principles. Lee, an advocate for greener technology, points out the perks of more fuel-efficient cars – money-saver, environmentally responsible and ahead of the curve.

4 Things You May Not Know About Recycling

Find out what you can do to stop saying you’re going green, and start doing it.

It's no surprise that recycling is good for the environment. Yet, many of us don't do it. According to DoSomething.org, more than 75 percent of waste is recyclable, but we only recycle about 30 percent of it. We all say we want to hand down a cleaner planet to our children, the generation that will inherit our struggles and successes, but ask yourself: What am I doing to help?

Recycling is one of the most effective ways to benefit the environment. Whether it's at work or home, we should get in the habit of throwing glass, aluminum, steel (known as tin cans), paper and plastics in the green bin. Check out some of these fascinating facts:

1. Recycling creates millions of green jobs, even in your community. As a matter of fact, in 2010, green goods and services amounted to 3.1 million jobs in the U.S., according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Most people don't realize it, but cardboard is a valuable commodity. After you go grocery shopping, reuse that bag!

2. Recycling one soda can save enough energy to power a television for two hours. Sip and recycle!

3. About 4 percent of the total energy consumption in the U.S. is used in the production of all plastic products. We can cut down on this energy waste by recycling plastic products after their useful lives has ended.

4. Manufacturing recycled paper uses 60 percent of the energy need to create paper from trees, according to the Benefits of Recycling.

As a dedicated advocate of a peaceful and sustainable world, Ilchi Lee strongly believes that we should take steps to truly go green. Today is the time to plan for the world of tomorrow.

Ilchi Lee Keynote: Know How To Use Your Brain Operating System

Ilchi Lee Keynote:

I’d like to welcome you to this Ilchi Lee Keynote. In this lecture, we join Ilchi Lee in Boston for a talk he gave at the premiere of his film, Change, the LifeParticle Effect.

In this his first public lecture in Boston in over six years, Ilchi Lee discusses how being aware of and focusing on our energy allows us to utilize our brain’s potential to the fullest.

Talking about Sex with Your Children

Being a role model of enlightened sexuality is all the more critical for our children’s learning. In sexuality, as with all life experience, we must be the change we wish to see in the world.

Through these discussions, we will be able to develop a basis of trust with our children, leading to better communication. When we can speak about sex with our children, we will find that it frees our ability to talk about other topics. These conversations will assure our children that they are being respected, which will lead them to develop self-worth, responsibility, and maturity. Through these sincere, honest discussions, you may even change your own preconceptions.

Read more quotes by Ilchi Lee.  Below is an observation of a contributor to this blog: David Lawston.

Sex and sexuality are extremely controversial issues in American culture and although attitudes toward sex remain ambivalent, there have been massive changes in American sexual behavior over the past 50 years, including the spread of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Sex-related social problems can be classified in three categories. Gagnon and Simon’s classification scheme for sex-related social problems is like this:

  1. Tolerated sex variance:
Heterosexual oral sex, masturbation, and premarital intercourse
  2. Asocial sex variance:
Incest, child molestation, coercive adult sex, rape, exhibitionism, and voyeurism
  3. Structured sex variance:
    Homosexuality, prostitution, and pornography

Why Ilchi Lee Emphasizes the Brain So Much?

Ilchi Lee emphasizes the brain because it is the thing that creates and controls every aspect of human life. Health, feeling and experience, physical movement, motivation and purpose–all of these are based on brain activity. All life can be improved by better use of our brains.

In the past, humanity has tended to ignore the brain because it was poorly understood and under appreciated. But human understanding of the brain is exploding, and now is the time to utilize that knowledge to our best advantage.

All of the answers to life’s challenges reside in the brain. If we can release that potential, I believe that humanity can solve many of the world’s difficult challenges. This is also true for you on a personal level. Do you have too much stress in your life? Relaxing your brain waves can have a profound effect on the stress reaction in your body. Do you have relationship problems? Examining the addictive emotional patterns established in your brain will help you begin to change them, which will in turn to change your interactions with others. Every human problem is created in the brain, and so is every solution. Through better understanding and care of our brain, we gain greater confidence and the capacity for mastering all our life skills.

Ilchi Lee Conducts the Energy Circulation School for the First Time in Otsu, Japan

Ilchi Lee led the inaugural training program called the Energy Circulation School, held in Otsu, Japan, September 30-October 1, 2007.

The school is a high-level program combining a lectures on energy circulation, Dahn-mu (energy movment) traning (including his demonstration of Dahn-mu), meditation (on a ship), and energy-circulation (Unki) training. For this one-night/two-day course in Otsu, 51 people registered.

Recently Ilchi Lee has been emphasizing that the key to training is communicating the power of Cosmic Energy (Chunjikiun in Korean) for generating greater health, happiness and peace. In his lecture, he said that everything is to be found in Dahn-mu, and that Dahn-mu is a process of learning how to get in touch with the Cosmic Energy in the body. Jangsaeng (Longevity) Walking is also a form of Dahn-mu, performed while walking around. He described the three stages of doing Dahn-mu: Jung-choong (Physical) Dahn-mu, Kijang (Energy) Dahn-mu, and Shinmyeong (Spiritual) Dahn-mu.

Ilchi Lee explained these nine specific effects of Dahn-mu on us:

  1. We develop physical strength.
  2. We become more proactive and passionate.
  3. We become freer and develop good blood circulation.
  4. We sweat, and develop autonomic control and stability.
  5. Our brain release stress and become more versatile, and our heart overflow with love.
  6. We increase our creativity.
  7. We feel genuine happiness and peace.
  8. We want to share love with others.
  9. We feel that we have communed with Heaven (divinity).

According to observers of Ilchi Lee’s Dahn-mu demonstration to music, his entire body exuded Cosmic Energy, energetically emanating from his toes and fingertips. In watching his Dahn-mu, the observers called it an inspiring experience that opened their heart.

Brain Wave Vibration

Ilchi Lee issues a statement regarding the purpose and power of brain wave vibrations as the key to understanding how to achieve health, happiness and peace.
Nowadays, it’s common knowledge that your life is defined by your brain waves.
Other than that simple but significant fact, why should you care about your brain waves?

brain wave vibrationIt’s because you can actually use your brain waves to create more health, happiness and peace in your life. With this special exercise designed by Ilchi Lee, you can enhance your ability to heal not only yourself, but other people as well.

Here’s the Brain Wave Vibration document that explains how it all works.

Ilchi Lee Explains Jangsaeng (Longevity) Walking in Nara, Japan

Ilchi Lee gave a lecture about and led a demonstration of the Jangsaeng (Longevity) Walking Method for 160 persons in Nara, Japan, October 5, 2007.

Nara is an ancient capital of Japan; its quaint and beautiful parks, temples and streets make it an ideal place for people to practice Jangsaeng Walking. The audience received this new walking method with great enthusiasm.

Jangsaeng Walking is a simple yet highly beneficial way of walking, whether around the house or around the neighborhood. It involves an enhanced awareness of body angle, pelvic tilt, breath, and other body mechanics. In particular, one should walk with a firm sense of the weight distributing to the balls and toes of the foot. According to Oriental Medicine, this area contains the Yong-chon acupressure point, which is the start of meridian (energy channel) for the kidney. Kidney health relates to the speed and intensity of the aging process. Jangsaeng Walking helps to strengthen calf muscles, which put gentle pressure on the Yong-chon point. In Oriental health theory, flowing kidney energy contributes to keep us young and healthy. Jangsaeng Walking activates the power of your minds’ awareness, which has a strong influence on the body and brain.

Ilchi Lee Spoke on Energy Training in Shizuoka, Japan

Ilchi Lee described the nature of energy in the body and led exercises so the audience could experience the energy, in Shizuoka, Japan, September 16, 2007.

The expansive green-tea fields and towering Mount Fuji dominate the scenery of Shizuoka, which in Japanese means Quiet Hills. While no Dahn Centers exist in this area, the attendance and audience reaction bode well for opening centers in the future.

Participants from Shizuoka experienced Ilchi Lee’s Ji-gam training, feeling the energy in and around our bodies, with its calming influence for meditation. For many of them, it was first time to do Ji-gam.

Ilchi Lee gave the lecture to the audience to celebrate the new Japanese book of Know Your Brain, Change Your Life.
